Killed in action during the 3rd Battle of Ypres on Tuesday, 31st July 1917.

Born at Balkillo, Tealing, and enlisted at Dundee.

YPRES (MENIN GATE) MEMORIAL

 

JAMES BRUCE

Private 4/8466, 2nd (Home Service) Battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales' Own)

Died on Friday, 1st September 1916. Age 41.

Born at Forfar; lived at London, and enlisted at Hull, Yorkshire.

Son of John and Amelia Bruce, of Dundee.

Killed in action near Calonne on Sunday, 30th April 1916. Age 22.

Born at Dundee and enlisted at Alloa, Clackmannanshire.

Son of Isabella A. Cameron, of Hillock, Kingennie, Angus.

ARCHIBALD WILLIAM ROBERTSON DON

Second Lieutenant (Temporary Lieutenant), 10th Battalion, Black Watch (Royal Highlanders)

Admitted to hospital on Wednesday, 19th July 1916 with malaria and died on Monday, 11th September 1916. Age 25.

Went to France with the Battalion in September 1915.

Born at Broughty Ferry.

Educated at Winchester and Trinity College, Cambridge (Scholar of Trinity); student of medicine at St. Bartholomew's Hospital, London.

Son of the late Robert Bogle Don LL.D., J.P., and of Lucy Flora Don (nee Campbell), of Warren House, Farnham Common, Buckinghamshire.  Elder brother of Robert McPherson Don, Lieutenant, 10th Battalion, Black Watch.

SALONIKA (LEMBET ROAD) MILITARY CEMETERY

 

ROBERT MCPHERSON DON

Lieutenant, 10th Battalion, Black Watch (Royal Highlanders)

Killed in action during the attack on Lake Doiran between Tuesday 8th - Wednesday 9th May 1917. Age 23.

Went to France with the Battalion in September 1915.

Son of the late Robert Bogle Don LL.D., J.P., and of Lucy Flora Don (nee Campbell), of Warren House, Farnham Common, Buckinghamshire.  Younger brother of the late Archibald William Robertson Don, of 10th Battalion, Black Watch.

Lived at Tealing and enlisted at Dundee.

Killed in action during the German attack on Givenchy on Monday, 25th January 1915. Age 21.

Born at Fettercairn, Kincardineshire, and enlisted at Perth.

Son of David and Jane Philip, of 29 Panmure Street, Broughty Ferry.

Born at Inverauldy, Angus, and enlisted at Dundee.

Son of James and Isabella Urquhart, of Rawes, Longforgan.

Died of wounds on 20th April 1916.

Born at Longforgan and enlisted at Alyth, Perthshire.

Born at Tannadice, Angus, lived at Arbroath, and enlisted at Dundee.

Son of David and Eliza Law Winter, of Menmuir, Brechin; husband of Agnes MacKintosh Winter, of 21 Birchwood Place, Dundee.
