Died on Monday 29th September 1919. Age 29.
Son of Robert and Jemima Burnett, of Ashintully, Kirkmichael, Perthshire.

 

DAVID CHAPLIN
Lance Corporal S/17919, 4th Battalion, Gordon Highlanders
Killed in action on Saturday, 13th April 1918.
Born at Kirriemuir and lived at Montrose.

 

WILLIAM CRABB
Corporal 3498, 54th Battalion, Australian Infantry, Australian Imperial Force
Died of wounds on Friday, 13th October 1916.
Born at Arbroath and enlisted on 6th September 1915 with the 20th Battalion, Australian Imperial Force, at Roseville, Sydney, New South Wales. Son of William Crabb, of Nether Dysart, Montrose.

 

FREDERIC GEORGE GARRARD Military Cross
Second Lieutenant, 2nd Battalion, Gordon Highlanders
Died on Wednesday, 22nd May 1918 from wounds received in action two days earlier. Age 20.
Elder son of Frederic William Garrard and Elizabeth Garrard (nee Rodger, formerly of Inchock, Inverkeilor), of Brambledene, Coulsdon, Surrey.
His citation for the Military Cross, dated 16th September 1918, states, "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in leading a raiding party.  He was dangerously wounded, but seeing another officer, who had been wounded and could not get away, he went and dragged him back for 50 or 60 yards till he got assistance from some other men.".

 

ARTHUR JOHN GIBB
Corporal 1260, 6th Battalion, Royal Scots (Lothian Regiment)
Killed in action on 28th June 1915. Age 23.
A graduate of Edinburgh University. Son of John Grant Gibb and Ann Grant Gibb, of Inverkeilor.

 

DAVID LINDSAY HOWE
Private 151745, 1st Canadian Mounted Rifles (Saskatchewan Regiment)
Missing in action during an attack on Regina Trench on Sunday, 1st October 1916. Age 26.
Son of James and Mary Howe, of 168 High Street, Montrose;
husband of Elizabeth M. Stewart (nee Howe), of 35 Union Street, Montrose.

Private 6745, 2nd Battalion, Black Watch (Royal Highlanders)
Killed in action on Friday, 23rd April 1915. Age 20.
Son of Mrs. Annie C. Kydd, of 26 Kyd Street, Arbroath, and the late David Kydd.

 

ANDREW KENNEDY
Private 905031, 10th Battalion, Canadian Infantry
Died on 21st July 1917. Age 29.
Enlisted on 20th April 1916 at Edmonton, Canada. Son of Mrs Jane Kennedy, of Ethie Haven, Arbroath.

Killed in action on Wednesday, 9th May 1917.
Born at Lunan and enlisted at Glasgow.

Captain, "D" Company, 13th (Scottish Horse) Battalion, Black Watch (Royal Highlanders)
Died of wounds on Tuesday, 8th October 1918. Age 44.
Awarded the Military Cross in the King's Birthday Honours on 3rd June 1918 for distinguished service in connection with Military Operations in Salonika. Son of Lieutenant-Colonel A. D. MacGregor and Euphemia G. Lindsay MacGregor.

Killed in action on Sunday, 19th November 1916. Age 19.
Native of Inverkeilor. Son of Gregor and Annie McGregor.

Died at Arbroath Infirmary on Friday, 29th November 1918 from wounds received in action at Loos, France, in October 1915. Age 24.

S/25952, Black Watch), James Orrock (Private S/16979, Gordon Highlanders).

 

ALEXANDER PAUL

Died in German hands on Tuesday, 15th August 1916, from wounds to the thigh and chest received in action the previous month.  Age 21.
Son of Alexander Paul and Margaret Paul (nee Grant), of Hodgeton, Inverkeilor.

Killed in action on Thursday, 11th April 1918. Age 47.
Third son of Jessie Taylor (nee Patterson) and the late William Taylor, of Raesmill, Inverkeilor; husband of Mrs A. G. Taylor, and father of the late Thomas Usher Taylor, Private 12289, 4th (South African Scottish) Regiment,
South African Infantry, who was killed in action at Vimy Ridge on Friday, 21st September 1917, age 18.

Killed in action at the Battle of Loos on Saturday, 25th September 1915. Age 17.
Son of George Laird Taylor and Elizabeth Taylor, of Courthill, Inverkeilor.
