Lieutenant, 4th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers

Died on 16th July 1916. Age 20.

Son of Major Arthur Otway Jacob and Violet Augusta Kennedy-Erskine, his wife.

Private, S/16884, 8th (Service) Battalion, Black Watch

Died on 3rd May 1917. Age 38.

Son of Alexander Glen, of Tayock Cottages, Montrose;

husband of Margaret Turner Glen, of Westhall Terrace, Duntrune, Dundee.

 

ARTHUR HOWIE

Piper 1568, 5th (Angus & Dundee) Battalion (Territorial Force), Black Watch

Killed in action at the Battle of Neuve Chapelle on 10th March 1915.

 

DAVID HOWIE

Private 4478, 4th Battalion, Gordon Highlanders

Died on 23rd July 1916. Age 19.

Son of Alexander and Eliza Howie, of Old School House, Lauriston, St. Cyrus, Montrose.

 

FRANCIS B. MCFARLANE

Private 76261, 9th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Notts. & Derby. Regiment)

Died on 11th June 1917. Age 26.

Husband of Robina S. Young McFarlane, of Station Cottages, Bridge of Dun, Montrose.

 

PHILIP NICOLL

 Lance Corporal S/11894, 1st Battalion, Black Watch

Died on 8th January 1918.

 

CUTHBERT RAE

Gunner  61134, 70th Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery

Died on 29th April 1918. Age 26.

Son of Robert Rae, of Vaynes Park, Brechin;

husband of Lizzie Rae, of Tayock Cottages, Montrose.

 

JOSEPH RAE

Private M2/031553, Army Service Corps (55th Division Field Artillery Workshop)

Died on 3rd February 1916. Age 27.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. David Rae, of Dun, by Montrose.

 

ALLAN B. RATTRAY

Private 2789, 4/5th (Angus & Dundee) Battalion (Territorial Force), Black Watch

Died on 14th November 1916. Age 20.

Son of David and Margaret Jane Rattray, of Montrose.
