Enquiries are always welcome, especially those from relatives of men who served with the Battalion.  Over the years I have helped many trace their forefathers footsteps across France and Belgium.

I have been researching the Battalion since 1999 and now have a great deal of information to hand, which has been no easy task as details for the men who served with the Battalion are very hard to find for the following reasons:

In 1930, all the Battalion's Service Records were destroyed in a fire at the Drill Hall in Dundee.  As a result, the Black Watch Museum at Perth has no records for the men who served with the Battalion.

In 1940 the Army Records Office at Hayes, Middlesex, was partially destroyed by enemy bombing with more than half of the British Army Service Records being destroyed by fire.  The National Archives at Kew, Middlesex, has only about 40% of the British Army Service Records from The Great War.

Despite this, much information can be obtained from various sources scattered across the country.

If you think I can help you with your enquiries, just drop me a line giving as much detail as possible.

I look forward to hearing from you!
