The 50th Anniversary Reunion Dinner

On Thursday 29 October 1964 the survivors of the Battalion gathered for a reunion dinner at the Queen's Hotel, 160 Nethergate, Dundee, to mark the 50th anniversary to the day of the Battalion embarking for France in The Great War.

The idea of a 50th Reunion Dinner was instigated by the Reverend Kenneth Cole, who had been a drummer with the Battalion in 1914.  The Reunion Treasurer, James Anderson Davidson, himself a serving soldier with the Battalion in 1914 and later a Commissioned Officer with the Royal Garrison Artillery, estimated that there was no more than 100 surviving members of the original Battalion who embarked 50th years earlier.

The guest of honour was Lieutenant-Colonel D. A. B. Duke, 4/5th Battalion, Black Watch (Territorial Army), who was son of Captain Archibald Whyte Duke, who had been Machine Gun Officer with the Battalion in 1914.
